Not been much to blog about lately. Not that my life hasn't been without it's dramas over the past week or two, but that's a bit too personal to go into.

Life otherwise is pretty much routine. The weather was absolutely appalling over the weekend, so I didn't do much at all. On Friday night after work I had a wander round the shops and bought some Tunnocks tea cakes from Auckland's one and only department store (they cost me 2 pounds!). Then I went home and watched tv for a while before going to bed to read a Phantom comic.

Saturday I lounged around the house with my boyfriend reading Far Side books. Then we went out for dinner at the local hong kong style cafe. I had curry thin fried rice noodles with bbq pork and shrimp and he had scrambled egg with beef and flat rice noodles. It's just a dodgy cafe, but the food is good and cheap too.

Saturday night we were bored so went out to the pub at the local hotel. It's a real working mans pub...the equivalent would be some dodgy pub in the east end. It was full of huge maori men in their shorts and road workers vests. They have Kareoke on a Saturday night which was why we went....my boyfriend likes to sing. I had thought about going up myself, but then decided against it after hearing everyone else sing. I was gobsmacked....all these rough looking men were getting up, and they all had amazing voices! I couldn't believe it. The guy doing the kareoke was a dead ringer for George Clooney....but with a bit less hair.

Sunday I sat in my pj's for most of the day and watched videos. I usually go and watch my boyfriend play hockey, but it was pouring down, so was a good day to stay inside. I had been invited to go to the hot pools with a german girl that I've met, but since they are outside I decided against it.

Work wise, it's ok. It's a new experience, they don't socialise together, go for lunch or anything. I really miss Friday night piss ups at the pub. Been teaching myself unix scripting. Since we have a unix environment I thought I may as well make use of it. Managed to create a few helpful scripts...was quite proud of myself!

Friday today thank goodness. It's been a very long week and I'm so looking forward to a relaxing weekend. One task to be completed this weekend is the purchase of a warm jacket. I'm just wearing a thin fleece, and it's too cold for that now, especially in the mornings.

Had my hair cut tonight. I always forget how good it feels to have someone wash your hair and then massage your scalp as they condition it. I could feel my eyes closing and feel myself slipping down in the chair with utter relaxation.

No plans for the weekend. Dinner and tv tonight. Bacon and eggs for breakfast tomorrow. Guess it depends on the weather as to what I'll be up to. Got a new bike, so a wee ride on that would be good.
